Takken's Shoes is a family shoe business based in San Luis Obispo, California. In 1937, Harry Takken opened a small shoe repair shop in downtown San Luis Obispo, calling it Takken's. Because of his attention to detail, quick wit, and personal interest in his customer's welfare, his business became very popular.

Robert Takken bought the business from his father, Harry, in 1971. He continued the proud tradition of customer service and personal service, and the shoe repair business continued to grow. In response to this growth, Robert began adding a retail mix to the store, specializing in western and work boots. Robert spotted the emerging comfort shoe trend in the mid 1980's, and jumped on board getting into business with many of the pioneers in the comfort genre. His business continued to gain widespread popularity and success.

Expansion began in 1987, and has continued throughout the 90's and into the new millenium. The face of Takken's has evolved and changed over the years, but the solid principals will always remain the same. Takken's goal is to become a dominant footwear retailer on the West Coast, while always remembering our small town roots.
